Winter/Spring 2014 Exclusive Badminton Victoria Courses
PLEASE READ FOR COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
Course outline for Junior Competitive:The Jr Competitive program is our first tier badminton program. It will teach the athletes the basic skills of being a badminton player, such as the proper strokes, footwork, mental aspects, and rules of the game. By teaching them these fundamentals of the sport it will improve their knowledge and mentality behind the highly skillful sport of badminton. In order to be a strong and competitive player of the sport you need to learn the proper techniques of the game. This course will start the athletes off with everything above, and if achieved with a high level they will be asked to move up into the competitive program.
Course outline for Competitive:The Competitive program is the second tier of our badminton program. It is offered to the athletes that have succeeded in the Jr. competitive program. This program will be geared towards improving on the basics at an advanced level. Shot quality and accuracy, faster movement, finesse, and high levels of fitness will be applied in the program. One of the main goals is to get the athletes ready for tournaments and experience what it’s like to compete at local and provincial level play. Players are expected to come to each session with the will and desire to learn and improve.
Course outline for Talent ID: The Talent ID program (formerly named Hawks, and coached by Keith Anton) is by invitation only and is the third and final tier of our programs. It includes refining skills and form, fitness, and more competitive tactics for higher level of play. The overall goal of this program is to develop young serious badminton players to the tournament level. All participants will be expected to participate on their school badminton team or club, as well as in local and out of town tournaments.
